The Kalkada Riverside FC won the 2025 Sisi Afrika soccer tournament, which was the third edition of the competition. Kalkada faced off against Udenda FC in the final, with that match ending in a barren draw in the normal time.

Penalty shootouts were needed to decide the winner, and in the end, the scoreboard read 4-2 in favour of Kalkada. That tournament was played at Sidok Primary School grounds on December 31 and January 1.

The champion received Ksh10,000 in cash award. The second-placed team, Udenda, was awarded Ksh5,000. Kabura Talents FC finished third and walked away with Ksh4,000, while the fourth-placed SC Young Ballers from Uradi got Ksh1,000.

Coaching the Kalkada team to this victory was Denis Onyango. The captain was Collins Ogolla.

The teams playing the final were to wear brand new jerseys. There were two choices of jersey colours: blue and black.

Both Kalkada and Udenda wanted to have the black jersey, so a coin was tossed to decide who gets it. That happened only minutes before the final match began. The coin flipped in favour of Udenda.

Udenda FC won the first edition of the Sisi Afrika tournament, while Mahola FC bagged the second edition.

This tournament is sponsored by Fredrick Okello, alias Difre, and Frank Otieno. Speaking during the 2025 edition awards ceremony, Mr. Difre asked other individuals of goodwill to join them in supporting the development of soccer talents at the grassroots.

Mark Agutu, the head of communications in the Senate speaker’s office, attended the final match and participated in issuing the awards.

Udenda bags the Usikka tournament

In another tournament, Udenda FC pounded Sirinde FC to win the Usikka tournament. The competition involved eight teams, and the action happened at Uradi Primary School grounds on December 27 and December 28.

In the opening matches, Mwer FC took on Sirinde FC; Udenda FC tackled Kalkada FC; Kabura Talents FC faced off against Nyalwanga FC; and Uradi FC battled Sidok FC.

The champions, Udenda FC, walked away with Ksh10,000 in cash award. The second-placed Sirinde took home Ksh5,000. Sidok came third and got Ksh3,000, while Nyaluanga finished fourth and pocketed Ksh1,500.

The tournament was sponsored by a welfare group with members from Uradi, Sigoma and Kalkada areas.

Gangu defeats Unyolo to win Pacho

In Gangu, Gangu FC beat Unyolo FC 2-0 to win the Pacho Tournament on December 14. Elvis Ochieng and Levis Okello scored for Gangu. Nelson Okoth-Omondi led the team as the captain in that match.

The tournament was played at Gangu Primary School grounds and it drew four teams, including Nyakado FC and Siaya Homeboys FC.

The Gangu team took home Ksh10,000, a ball and a trophy in awards. The Gangu coach Enock Ogolla said discipline and hard work earned his team the victory.

The tournament was sponsored by a welfare of soccer fans backed by a company called Khaol Stainless Steel Fabricators.

Gangu has earned a distinction as one of the strongest teams in grassroots tournaments. In 2023, it defeated Uradi FC, coached by Vincent Wandange at that time, to win the Dennis Pamba Tournament, which was played at Sidok Primary School grounds.
