Noah Logwatale is the first Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) for Siaya West sub-county. He reported to the station at the sub-county headquarters in Uranga on February 17. Mr. Logwatale was received at the station by Siaya West chiefs.

After reporting to the station, Mr. Logwatale was expected to meet his counterpart from Siaya sub-county in Uranga, a source familiar with the details told the Tribune.

Siaya West was carved out of Siaya sub-county, so the meeting was expected to signal the beginning of the transfer of functions to the new sub-county.

Mr. Logwatale is a longtime administrator who has served in various roles, rising through the ranks from a DO.

What awaits Siaya West DCC Noah Logwatale

As he takes the office as the first deputy commissioner for Siaya West sub-county, Noah Logwatale is likely to have a brief honeymoon in his new station. There are many issues that are going to demand his attention immediately, with security concerns topping the list.

Following the attack on West Alego chief Camlus Agara in November last year, many administrators have expressed concern for their safety. Mr. Logwatale will need to ensure his administrators feel safe and motivated.

Nearly all the primary schools in Uranga division have been raided at night and high-value items such as laptops, tablets, projectors, and calculators stolen. Another issue is livestock theft that administrators have described as rampant.

In Usonga, residents and leaders have raised the alarm over illegal sand harvesting. This activity has led to the destruction of roads and degradation of farmlands in Usonga villages, putting road users in danger and hurting farm yields.
