Some eight students from across Siaya West sub-county were awarded scholarships at an event in Uranga last month.
The scholarships were issued by a charity organisation called the Sense of Worth, and they are meant to support bright students with financial needs. The organisation also has a mentorship programme for students.
The event was held at the Siaya West headquarters compound on February 14.
South West Alego chief Simon Olwendo and his Usanga counterpart Paul Kanot attended the event, along with other administrators and education officers. The scholarships were awarded to students from Kaugagi-Hawinga, Kaugagi-Udenda, Kalkada-Uradi, Komenya-Kalaka, and Sumba sub-locations.
