The 2026 Mashujaa Day celebrations in Siaya West sub-county will be hosted in Usonga, according to the local administration. The event is scheduled to take place at the Usonga Library grounds.

Siaya West DCC Noah Logwatale is expected to preside over the celebrations. The event will bring together national government administration officials, county government representatives, education officials, trade union leaders, and other guests.

Those expected to attend include Uranga ACC Peter Namutale and chiefs Paul Kanot of Usonga, Camlus Agara of West Alego, and Simon Olwendo of South West Alego. The sub-county director of education, local Knut and Kuppet officials, and representatives of various organisations are also expected.

Several retired public servants and former local leaders are expected to be recognised for their service to the community. They include retired chiefs George Sagom and Augustine Omuya, and former councillors Pascal Omuga and Jackton Okello. Other elders from different locations in the sub-county are also expected to be recognised.

The event will mark the first Mashujaa Day commemoration hosted in Siaya West since the new sub-county was established.
